Grand Prior of the Priory of the United Kingdom                                                  of the Order of St. Stanislas

Dame Mervyn Redding

Dear Grand Prior,

I am very sorry to hear that you did not feel well for some time and hope sincerely that your health has improved now and that you recovered completely.

Allow me to question the perfect coincidence of a perfect match of your plans dating from the month of May 2009 to plan exactly on the very same day of the Berlin Investiture also an Investiture in your country. Such a twist of fate is nearly impossible. Especially when taking into account the intolerable ‘declaration’ of Richard some weeks earlier. This is clearly more than coincidence.

You say that you had confirmed all this by mail messages to me last year and never received any answer from me, not even after reminding me again.  I cannot recall having received such messages from you otherwise I would, of course, have answered you. I see such courtesy in communication as a major duty of my function and as a gentleman in general. For some time, because of much traveling, I used several mobile phones to read my mail messages. Maybe your message was not received, lost or not addressed to the right address. In any case, you could have transmitted your messages also to somebody else near me in copy when you did not receive an answer. In a normal circumstance it should have struck you that such neglect is beyond imagination, seen our mutual commitments in the Order. The Berlin Investiture was announced already in November 2009 and a match of date with your planned date should have alerted you more as it actually did. If you would have accepted me in my position you would have undertaken more decisive steps to clear this question that must lead to conflict. The content and general tenor of your message indicates that you all too readily concluded that I apparently had ‘no interest’ in the Grand Priory of Great Britain. What an idea!

This is also evident in the way you speak about Chevalier von Lison as ‘his interpreter’ although you know that he holds a similar important and high function in the Order as you yourself. It is manifest in every phrase of your letter that you show a fundamental non-respect towards me and that you are in total opposition to me as the Grand Master of the Order.

The fact that you mingle the Regency Council question into a discussion concerning simply a date of an event is evidence of your general unwillingness to recognize me or my function. It would have been more honest to say plainly what your position really is. In these circumstances, I would suggest that you better offer to retire from your function and from the Order.

If you intend to hold an Investiture ‘under the auspices of the Regency Council’ in direct opposition the Grand Master, who represents the authority in this Order as in any other Order in the world, it is a clearly hostile act of you which cannot be acceptable. You force me to act also in a hostile way towards you. I cannot allow your Counter-Investiture and will take the necessary steps to prevent you to go through with it. You should be aware that you expose your guests to the risk of spending much money for nothing because an official ceremony will not be held in public without challenge. If you keep an Investiture in the backroom, at low level, you harm the prestige of the Order and I will be obliged to nominate another, more loyal personality, to take responsibility of the affairs in the United Kingdom.

To end, I ask you most kindly, Dame Mervyn, to reconsider and to avoid a confrontation which harms the Order and its members.

Yours truly,

The Prince Grand Master of the Order of St. Stanislas

Jan Zbigniew hr. Potocki

February 22. 2010

Sir,

We are very indignant to learn about your current  USURPER'S ACTIVITIES, ignoring to answer the letter from the Grand Master from February 20th 2010,  even more dramatically proceeded to insult the legal Grand Master of the Order of St. Stanislas Count Jan Zbigniew Potocki.

As the feelings of some discouraged Members are not materialized at this point in time; this is not a reason to insult the legitimate Grand Master.

The Grand Master of the Order of SAINT STANISLAS Count Jan Zbigniew Potocki order expects you to withdraw immediately your abusive correspondence and to make mutual apologies to the Grand Master within the next 48 hours (24th. February, 2010). Should we not hear from you within this period of time, all involved members will be expelled from the Order with immediately effect and the eventual legal consequences.

At this same time we remain:

1.     The Regency Council was established by Grand Master Juliusz Nowina Sokolnicki in case of his sudden dismiss  without indication of his successor.

2.     The present Grand Master Count Jan Zbigniew Potocki was presented personally by VIII Grand Master Juliusz Nowina Sokolnicki in Czestochowa in Mai 2009.  All members of the regency council were present at this meeting. At this time there were no objections to his decision.

3.     The Regency Council was established to guide a new Grand Master for the period of his first six years in office. Do not forget the first and most important paragraph of the decree about the Council, which states that the council will aid and assist the Grandmaster. That is something totally else then what you bring up: supervise, control and administer.

4.     The Regency Council has no power to decree or to ordain, please point out that such a Council has only power to counsel and advice.

5.     You are violating the most important rule of any statute of any order in the world

6.     After the Grand Master Juliusz Nowina Sokolnicki signed the Nomination to the New Grand Master Count Jan Zbigniew Potocki in observed by a  Notary, at the same time he dismissed the Regency Council in presence of three witnesses; Members of the Order of St. Stanislas at August 15th 2010 in Colchester.

7.     Because of this occurrence, the new Grand Master enacted the Decrees in Kalkow.

8.      Any future destructive activity of any member of the Order, deliberate malicious detrimental to the Order into disrepute, will be a reason for expulsion from the Order.

The initial activities to which all Companions of the Order pledged their support were the Hospital of Jesus the Child in Warsaw and the National Library established by King Stanislas Augustus. Today the goals of the Order and the obligations of the Companions remain similar to those of the founders. This same, like the restorer of the Order, Juliusz Nowina Sokolnicki,  the present Grand Master Count Jan Zbigniew  Potocki is acting very strongly, to keep the main task of the Order,  providing humanitarian support, while humanitarian efforts are part of our mission,  in accordance to the ideas of the founder.

All persons who give priority of Private Interest over the Order, abuse their privileges and showing no activity, should consider his behavior.

Yours

G.B. Zbigniew Roch.
